Hippy Trails – Journey between Delhi to Kathmandu

Few Years back, I was leading series of Buddhist tours in India bouncing back and forth between the Delhi, Agra, Varanasi and Bodhgaya. Well it was Korean series and was not so interesting and had became so monotonous that I was bored.

One evening, after the regular sightseeing tour I was sitting by Chai (tea) shop next to Maha Bodi Temple of Bodhgaya and sipping tea – I got a call from my office asking “Can I do the road journey between India and Nepal leading jeep safari expedition?”

That’s it. That was what I was waiting for. Without thinking for another second; I said “Yes” but never imagined how bad the roads were. That’s how my Road Expedition between Delhi to Kathmandu started – once a month.

1128 Kms one way – bumpy roads of India and crazy hill drive in Nepal – One the first trip what I thought was; Hey Mr. Roshan Is this what you wanted? Why can’t you remain over there in Bodhgaya doing leisure tour? Is that what Adventure is all about? And now you don’t throw up because the road was round and round. That was crazy – driving in open hooded rally vehicles on those kind of roads but that’s what life is – Mixture of Bumpy and Silky ride – Without bumps you never know the difference!!

The entire trip was called Hippy Trails. Contact us for further details.

Cheers

what i saw in D’sala

A cloud does not know why it moves in just such a direction and at such a speed…It feels an impulsion…this is the place to go now. But the sky knows the reasons and the patterns behind all clouds, and you will know, too, when you lift yourself high enough to see beyond horizons.”

P.S. : I have been thinking since long time to post this image but everytime i plan to do so, i feel short of words. Whenever i see this image my comprehensive power goes down the drain. Let me know how you feel when u glance through this image.

Note : Five places that you may miss while you are in Dharamsala. Without exploring these places, your trip to Dharmasala is incomplete. Browse through http://wanderingvikas.blogspot.in/2012/01/five-places-to-experience-in.html

Journey to Pokhara

My Journey to Pokhara – Land of Natural Beauty

photo tour to pokhara

During my early college days, when I used to be at Kathmandu; there are many incident where we (group of frens) used to run away from hostel and head towards Pokhara just to booze. Well that’s something different story – My point of mentioning this incident is just to make you feel that Pokhara even attracts local youth and domestic travelers.

pokhara city tour

Pokhara second largest city in Nepal is located almost 170 kms away from Capital city. If you are in Kathmandu with bunch of your friends then hire motorbike from any local vendor – Get your riding suit on and hit the highway leading towards Pokhara. This drive itself is amazing – there is no words to explain the drive. If you are bitten by bug of photography then I personally recommend you to opt to drive yourself stopping at different location to click the awesome landscape shots.

Arrived Pokhara, just head towards lake side “ the most happening place” and get a descent hotel as per your budget and choice. There are numerous options available. Now you can chill pill and relax by either just sitting on the hotel / café while grabbing some tea, coffee or beers and nurse the beauty of nature.  Well this is the best way to spoil yourself while on leisure ‘coz the view of mountains and the great fewa lake is completely amazing. Just the picture perfect place to relax on leisure.

Hello ! Hello !! Ladies come on there are many options for you as well. Get ready with your husband’s or boyfriend’s credit card ‘coz the shopping in and around lakeside won’t end till the moment you leave Pokhara. Every shops out there has something unique that you would surely want to own. Well not only that few luxury hotels out there are offering spa and body massage as well – If you have time you may try that out or even you can get some tattoo done out there. Whatever is your choice Pokhara has the perfect option.

boating in pokhara

During your stay in Pokhara go ahead and explore the destinations such as Peace Temple, Seeing Hands Clinic, Fewa Tal, International Mountain Museum, Begnas Lake, Annapurna Butterfly Museum, Bat Cave, Gupteshwar Gupha, SOS Children Village, Barahi Temple, David’s Fall etc.

pokhara tour

I have jotted down few places of interest for your reference but personally if you ask me I would love to just hire a boat for a day, Get some beers and lots of sun tan lotion. Go boating around Fewa lake and enjoy the perfect holiday in leisure. Not only that I would love to hire a bicycle to go around and enjoy the natural beauty which clicking landscape and portraits.

BTW don’t you forget to take a hire towards Sarangkot. Be there before 5:30 AM in morning to see the magic of natural beauty. Well I will leave you here to guess ….

P.S. Guys re-visit me again for my next post related to nightlife activities in pokhara

Cheers

What I observed while I was in Kathmandu

What I observed while I was in Kathmandu – The capital city of Nepal?

Well, its my hometown where I grew up but my love of travel has brought me and settled me down in India. But every time I land in Kathmandu, I kiss the earth and the smell the air around. It makes me feel being home.

From traveler’s prospect, Kathmandu is one hell busy city where travelers from all over the world come. From luxury travelers to budget backpackers reach Kathmandu before they head forward. Not only that Kathmandu is relatively modernized and commercialized than any other places in Nepal which is just because tourist inflow. People out here are nice and warm as well every ready with smile.

Tourist spots like Pashupatinath Temple, Swayambhunath, Boudanath are almost always crowded but are worth visiting. During your stay in Kathmandu don’t you forget to explore Kathmandu Darwar Square, Sleeping Bishnu, Ason Bazar, Kopan Monasteries, Pahrping Monasteries, Daksin Kali Temple , Orphans schools in Kathmandu, Nepal National Museum, Freak street , New road, Patan, Lalitpur, Nagarkot and Dhulikhel. These places mentioned above are worth exploring.

Everyone will be jam packed with sightseeing and exploring all day long but what about evening? Do you have to stay back at hotel and be bored? Na, this is not the prospect. Well you can go around Thamel in evening for chit chat with other travelers. There are numerous cafes, restaurants and pubs where westerners and Indian travelers come to spend their evening. Grab a bottle of beer or some coffee or some cookies whatever is your appetite for the discussion. Even few eating joints out here has discussion forums ongoing. So this could be the best way to get to know people and listen their travel experience.

Everyone in India and Nepal is offering Casino Package with Airfare. What all they do is not showing you the complete beauty of Kathmandu while spoiling your habits? Come lets re-discover Kathmandu with us. Book a day walking tour or Kathmandu re-discover package with us and I bet you won’t regret the experience with us.

Cheers !!

Trip to Nepal – Land of Natural beauty and charm

Trip to Nepal

Nepal is a small but surprising destination at the foot of the Himalayas. It’s a real gem for culture buffs and action seekers alike. It hits you within moments of arriving in Nepal – an overwhelming sense of friendship, history, community and spirituality. Nepal is a complex and compelling country and it âs impossible to overcome the excitement of actually being there. From the colourful and chaotic streets of Kathmandu to the hilltop village of Bandipur or the laid-back lakeside town of Pokhara, you quickly become a willing participant in local life. Taking time to chat with roadside chai sellers, sharing a joke with a taxi driver and exchanging smiles while bartering for a bargain are all part of the Nepalese charm.
